The mind is like a blank canvas. What you paint on it, stays on it.
Have you ever had a thought that you keep replaying in your mind? Sometimes, we create a story in our head based on past experiences, observations, conversations, and ideas that we perceive it as the truth, and to an extent of projecting it to our lives. Even to a point of either pushing us to act on the thought or hindering ourselves from taking action.
These are the times when meditation comes in handy. By allowing the mind to wander, and gently recollect itself, we give it the opportunity to find clarity. In that clarity, we are able to unravel the points in our thoughts that are essential, what makes sense, and what is real. Hence, frees us from getting fixated on the storylines in our mind, which excludes us from the continuity of the world around us.
There is a saying that goes "We can only be what we give power to." This explains that intense power of the mind to create the reality of our lives. The moment we give in to overthinking, and focus on the difference of what is in our head and what is happening around us, we submerge ourselves in that feeling of conflict - the what ifs, the should haves, and must be’s. Where there is a great opportunity of living in the now and absorbing its lessons that can propel us to a higher place of clarity.
Life can be challenging sometimes, and that’s one inevitable truth, but the moment we resist it, we devote our energy and our mind to pushing what we feel is ideal to us. Contrary to when we learn to accept this simple truth, it’s easier for us to face head on our reality, the moments of difficulty, and focus on the idea that those, too, shall pass.
It is admirable to find a place of calmness, but it’s far more sterling when we find peace amidst the noise.
Sharing some thoughts based on recent meditations.
Hope we all have a wonderful week ahead.
